1937 Hammond
Concert E |
In the years leading up to
the second world war, Hammond Organs were becoming
increasingly popular, making inroads into some of
Britains biggest institutions. The original model
line-up consisted of the Model A (the instrument
pictured in the famous photo of Laurens Hammond), The
Model B and the flagship Concert E. The latter was the
most impressive and featured 32 not concave and
radiating American Guild Of Organist Pedalboard. Two 61
note manuals, Chorus Generator, Two expression Pedals
(Swell & Great) and typewriter style preset pistons and
split Tremolo.
WWII saw import restictions imposed
and Hammond could no longer be purchased in the United
Kingdom. The reason why early Hammond's such as the
models mentioned as well as all Hammond up to the mid
1960s (M3, B2, BV etc)
It is incredibly rare to
find an early model in the UK but
you have the opportunity to own
one!
